Become leaner and greener
ukfirst has teamed up with MAS East (Manufacturing Advisory Service) to invite you to the forthcoming industry event, “The Lean Environment” taking place on Thursday 24th April 2008 at the Cambridge Technology Centre in Melbourn, near Royston.
A number of environmental topics will be covered including; lean manufacturing, the benefits of FISP membership (Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme) and a business improvement case study. This event is a fantastic opportunity to discuss some pertinent issues facing furniture businesses across the UK, and advice will also be available on how to implement lean techniques to help combat some of the issues discussed.
Guest speakers will include; Managing Director of Future Glass, Gareth Phillips; ukfirst Programme Director, John Baldwin; MAS East Manufacturing Specialist, Robin Cheyne; and FIRA Environmental Consultant, Alun Watkins.
“As an industry we are not big polluters compared to some other industries, but there are certainly areas where we might improve, such as waste management, materials use and recycling/reuse,” said Alun Watkins.
The event will start at 10am, with a buffet lunch at midday. Attendance is FREE; to register, please email Richard Sallnow at .
