Successful logistics master class at Kuehne and Nagel

15 members of the furniture industry attended a day's masterclass at Kuehne+Nagel's Thetford headquarters on 21st June arranged by ukfirst. The objective was to demonstate some of the lessons the company has learnt in home delivering upholstery and cabinet furniture in the UK. ukfirst outlined the importance of value stream mapping to the supply stream and Kuehne+Nagel demonstrated their processes.

The masterclass covered issues such as packaging quality and handling techiques, warehousing, planning of deliveries, modified delivery vehicles for home delivery and how to minimise returns.

Philip Hanna, Business Development Manager for Kuehne+Nagel commented: "It was great to meet UK furniture to discuss the issues home delivery companies face on a daily basis that can cause damage and returns, and the ways Kuehne+Nagel operate to minimise these areas."

John Baldwin, Programme Director at ukfirst added "ukfirst prides itself in facilitating visits which enabel companies to benchmark within and outside the furniture industry. There is nothing better than learning from first hand experience and Kuehne+Nagel very kindly opened their doors to businesses in the furniture trade to do just that."

The day proved to be a great success and enabled members to engage in hands on experience. To find out about future ukfirst masterclasses please contact Reena Lathia on Tel: 01438 777801 or Email:
