Management Education Course

Fourteen delegates from eleven different companies throughout the furniture industry joined in Banbury, Oxfordshire recently to take part in the annual Management Education Course organised by The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers and this year led by ukfirst.  

The course aimed at operational managers within the furniture industry and its supply chain, was designed to give delegates the opportunity to learn and practice lean operational skills. 

During the course delegates benefited from learning from and working with Master Engineers, formulating action plans to take back to their businesses and hearing from guest speakers about key issues affecting UK manufacturing today. The highlight of the visit was taking part in two exemplar visits to companies practicing lean techniques; Wesley-Barrell from inside the furniture industry and Hepsec (part of Metsec) from outside the industry. 

The course was deemed a huge success by all that took part and delegates left informed and motivated to implement changes upon return to their businesses.
