JCB World Headquarters Best Practise visit

Thirty eight senior managers from across the furniture industry came together recently to learn about lean manufacturing and then see it in action at JCBÆs world headquarters.

Ukfirst, the furniture industry forum, facilitated this event giving delegates the opportunity to learn some basic principles of lean and then put it in context by examining some of the forumÆs recent case studies.

Following this, delegates took part in a plant tour of the office and production facilities of JCB in Rocester, Staffordshire. After a video presentation set the scene, delegates were able to get a unique behind the scenes look at this global company. Whilst touring the production facilities it was clear that lean manufacturing was the key behind their success with visual management and cultural change apparent. A highlight for delegates was seeing the famous JCBÆs in action whilst being test driven around a circuit.

Sponsored by logistics provider Ryder, the day was boosted a great success and gave delegates an opportunity to pick up some basic principles of lean and then see the theory in action.
